The BIG Flood

I forgot all about posting about this! It was truly a blessing in disguise. I was beginning to wonder if those even existed, really!

We left my mother home alone. I know, bad idea, right? She called to tell us that she went outside for a walk and when she came back our apartment was flooded. She had started a load of laundry before she left. She says the timer went out that tells the machine when it has enough water. So the machine just kept putting out water. Our carpet didn't get replaced, which is what I was hoping for, because of those bleach stains in the living room. However, they did dry the carpet over two days with blowers underneath and replaced the padding.

Now you're probably wondering "What blessing is there in all of that?". I haven't gotten to it yet.

When they sent the guys to fix the carpet yesterday they put down the new padding (thicker too) and tacked down the carpet (or whatever they call it) and then they vacuumed my whole house and cleaned the carpet in every room, including my new rug!

We were planning on having to spit out some dough to have the carpet cleaned before baby arrived, so that just ended up saving us a bunch!

Woo-hoo for the BIG flood!

Nothing else was damaged in the flood, although the kids did get some injuries tripping over the carpet when it was tore up, but nothing serious.
I think they just wanted Dora bandages.
