When I was in school one of my teachers once told me that I had "I fever". It bothered her that I began so many of my sentences with "I" when writing. To this day, I still tend to do that often. It's not that I intend to, I mean obviously I still remember her telling me that so when I am writing it's usually on my mind. Even when I can avoid beginning most of my sentences that way, I still manage to have too many "I"s in the document overall.
A few months ago when my daughter started 1st grade we attended an "Open House" at the school and met her teacher. Her teacher had a tendency to use the words "do do" together more than twice during that half hour. "I do do that towards the end of the year." "We do do recess." You get the idea. Every week the teacher sends home a news letter about what the children are working on in class. This is the first week I haven't found an error in the newsletter. Usually the error is the placement of the word "are" when it should read "our". It's an easy enough mistake, however I think it should have been noticed and corrected before two months time.
Okay I was bored and felt the need to nit-pick some things about myself and someone else. Now that's out of my system, I am going to try to find something else to do.
