Doctor Was Just In

I just saw one of my Doctors. She said that my 24 hr. urine collection results showed that there was 3.4 grams of protein in my urine when it was collected over Sunday night. She said 4 grams is considered "severe". She anticipated it would already be 4 grams this time, so she was surprised to see that it hadn't gone up quicker.

She still predicts I will deliver our son by the end of this weekend though. She is having me do another collection on Thanksgiving Day. This will be the 7th one I've done now! Maybe it will be the last. As she was leaving she said "I will be back on Monday, and IF you're still pregnant, we'll talk more then." Her opinion is that on Friday or Saturday they will get the results from Thursday's collection and it will be over 4 grams and my Doctor will schedule the surgery.

She also pointed out, on the other hand, that the protein content alone isn't alarm enough to deliver. It depends a lot on my blood pressure, and how bad my headache gets too.

My protein counts have progressed like so:
364 mgs
880 mgs
Admitted to hospital
2300 mgs
2400 mgs
3400 mgs

*ETA*: Just so someone else doesn't read the protein stuff and freak out I want to clarify some stuff. My Doctors have said they've let protein levels elevate upwards over 10grams (10,000mgs) before. My hypertension and other symptoms along with the protein problems are why I am hospitalized.

For instance, I am on Aldomet (a blood pressure medication). I take 500mg of it four times per day. Even with the medication my blood pressure is still high and rising. My last reading was 157/107 and that's WITH medication. Severe preeclampsia is typically diagnosed with blood pressure readings of 160/110 or greater for 6 hours for a woman on bedrest and more than 5 grams of protein in a 24 hr urine collection. Well my DRs think 4 grams of protein is severe enough in my particular case. As for my blood pressure, my DR keeps saying that it's being artificially masked by the medications, and it's still going up.

In my case, if my blood pressure starting rising (especially with my headache), they would probably decide to deliver me within 24 hours regardless of another urine collection. Because if I wasn't taking medication for my blood pressure already it would be so high. Like the other night I had an incident where my blood pressure had gotten to 170/112, they were talking about taking me off food and water and starting me on Hydrolozene (which is to lower blood pressure, I think?). I think they were planning to either deliver, or try to lower my blood pressure with it.

If I make it until this weekend, there's a good chance my little guy will be over 4 lbs. Which would be awesome! My DR also confirmed that my little man is more mature then most of the babies here because my low amniotic fluid levels (normal, but low normal) and hypertension has forced him to mature faster.

I don't know if I said this yesterday or not, but yesterday she told me that if I was 34 weeks she would have delivered me already. On December 9th, I will/would be 34 weeks. So either way, it doesn't sound like they're too willing to let me go much longer.
