Interesting Day!

The Neurosurgeon from UCLA called me tonight from his home to check on me. I told him about my nose and he said that I am right and that is totally normal and it should grow back to normal by 6-8 weeks. He said for the next 6-8 weeks my nose will be really sore and a lot of strange things will come down out of my nostrils, including some bone and it's all normal from that procedure. He also said that I should lose at the least 100 lbs. but it will take 6-12 months. Like that was a bad thing or something. Certainly I've ran out of patience with a lot of things dealing with Cushing's, but I also know it takes time to lose weight. I was really surprised today when I visited with my Endocrinologist. She weighed me at 286. I was 301 when they weighed me before my surgery. I've already lost 15 lbs. It's been less than 2 weeks. I'm thrilled already! Still, I look like hell and feel like crap, but just knowing that I will be getting better and better is uplifting enough to keep me happy! My Cortisol (stress hormone -makes you gain weight) levels were in the 1700's before surgery. Normal range is 8-25. After surgery mine were 1, while on steroids to keep me from "bottoming out" they said. So I sleep a lot lately. The Neurosurgeon said my body is experiencing withdrawal from the massive production of the Cortisol steroid before the surgery and that's why I'm so tired and feel so dumpy.

My sweetie-pie Auntie is sending me a Mac laptop. It will be another new and exciting experience. It may take me a few days of learning how to use it and I'm looking forward to the change.

Lots of things happened today, all of them good things I think.

The Neurosurgeon also said my lab-work has all come back looking good in my favor! They're pretty sure and hopeful they've cured me. I pray they are right!

My new laptop might come Wednesday or Thursday!! I am so excited I can hardly wait.

Holy cow! The shipping info says it should be here by 3 PM tomorrow! How incredible!!!! I'm seriously so excited... Like when you're little and waiting for Santa and you just have this feeling that he got you just what you wanted!
