Johnny is starting to walk! He's really trying now and can walk across the room if you tempt him with something. Yeah! I was going to get video of it tonight, but time got away from me, so hopefully I can get it on camera tomorrow!
Yesterday Lil S had an earache and didn't feel like going to school so I let her hang out with me instead.
Today I came to school with her and stayed to help with her class. I finished testing the kids on their letter & number word recognition. I started that with them on Monday, which I forgot to mention in my previous post/rant. They are in Kindergarten and they were trying to cheat by looking at the teacher's walls, so I took them out into the hallway for their tests and it turns out a lot of them still need a good amount of practice. The only kids that got them right are the ones that are already reading well. These should be like "sight" words though. Lil S was no exception. I think there were 6 kids who knew all of them and one of them was Lil S best friend, another a girl who is spanish-speaking (only knows English from being at school), and three of the others are the only three black kids in class. I mention the black kids because I read recently that "black people don't do well on tests", in fact there is even a lawsuit about it. So I thought it would be interesting to note that they are top-of-class in my daughter's Kindergarten.
I had a good time, the kids loved me, and the teacher is begging me to come back at least once every week. I just can't make that kind of a commitment. Not that I wouldn't come every week, just that I don't want to be expected to. My entire life is lived this way. I hate being expected to do anything.
Lil S had gymnastics this evening. One of the girls in her class fell off of the big beams 2-3 times and Lil S fell off once too. She didn't get hurt, but she cried because she was very embarrassed.
We checked the mail on the way home and found a note saying that our box was full and the post-office hi-jacked our mail, we have to go there to pick it up. On the way back to the car Big S kicked her foot up and her shoe flew off and hit Lil S in the face! She's alright though.
Oh, and this afternoon Lil S was doing a flip and landed on Wiggles (she's always by the kids). She yelped so I know it hurt.
Big S has sleep apnea, I'm sure of it. I'm going to take her to see a DR about it when we have insurance again. I've been having crazy bad headaches behind my left eye and serious eye irritation too (for days or weeks now).
Big S played at Rachel's after school today (as with every Wednesday now) and hung out with her at church until I could come to get her. She was having a lot of fun and was even disappointed that I had come to get her.
I don't usually mention this, because I don't have much to do with it personally, but the kids have an older sister who I will refer to as "B" (for privacy). B is my husband's daughter and she lives with her mom, about 5 states away. B might need our help in the not-too-distant future (by way of a place to "cool off") and so this is just a heads-up in case we are blessed with her presence in our lives. God willing, right?
I leave you with some cute pics of Lil S and her friends/classmates. The blond is Lil S. The girl with dark hair is her best friend Kaylee Kaus (so pretty, looove her dress). I forget who the boy with the reddish color shirt is. The smaller boy is Edgar Villasenor (Lil S has or had a little crush on him).
