Tomiyasu Elementary school does "Great American" awards every school year for students who work hard to be a "Great American".
Second Grade students have to know and write the Pledge of Allegiance and also be able to write and sing (or say) the Star Spangled Banner correctly.
Sadly there were a noticeable amount of 2nd graders who did not get a Great American Award. It is up to them to try to achieve the award and it takes a lot of practice. We worked night after night with Big S to learn the Star Spangled Banner the right way.

Kindergarten students have to know and say the Pledge of Allegiance correctly.
Lil S also got the Great American Award at school, but this is a video of about 5 short song performances the kids did after getting their awards. Lil S is the one in the yellow shirt for those who don't know.
