I actually saw the Doctor a 2nd time yesterday, well last night. My blood pressure was high so she stopped in to check on me and told me not to eat my dinner until I get my blood pressure checked again. It was looking like I was going to be delivering if it didn't come down. Yikes! Luckily my blood pressure did come down and I was able to have my lasagna for dinner. I have a different Doctor that will be coming by to see me today.
This morning I spoke with her again though. Apparently some of my blood work has come back abnormal suggesting that I am likely to get blood clots. She said that could be what caused the preeclampsia, perhaps a blood clot in the placenta. She said they don't know for sure and and they can't stop it at this point anyways. They are starting me on Heparin shots (blood thinning injections) today to prevent me from getting clots. I will get 2 a day. They hurt, like a bee sting. I will need them for up to 6-8 weeks after delivery as well because I will still be at risk for clotting after the surgery. It was also suggested I get tested after that to see if it is something that is ongoing that I need to take aspirin daily for the rest of my life for. If nothing else she said if I get pregnant again I need to take these shots and they may prevent preeclampsia or the fetal demise problems I have had. She said she was going to start me on the shots last night, but then my blood pressure went up and it made her nervous to do it then. The Heparin shots are "preventative" and low dose, she says they can do things to reverse the effects if/when they decide to deliver. In other words, I'm not going to bleed all over the place because of them. Here's an interesting thing, she said she really hates to start me on this so close to delivering, but as long as I am on bedrest just laying here, I have higher and higher chances of getting a blood clot so they need to do something about it.
She went on to say that my original Doctor will be here to see me on Thursday and that if the decision is made to deliver me before then that they should know that he is in town and maybe they would call him and see if he would come in to do it. He will be here for the next four days in a row after tomorrow and then she will be back on Monday. So she said I have a very strong chance that either him or her will do the surgery. Which is good because they are the only two I really trust right now.
Today I am 31 weeks and 4 days along in my pregnancy. This is my 16th day at the hospital. Both of the two Doctors I speak of have both said they don't think I'll make it to 32 weeks. However, if I do, that is great, of course! I think I will make it to 32 weeks.
She is still sticking to her original prediction, that I will deliver by the end of this weekend.
Only time will tell.
I believe at this point my blood pressure is one major deciding factor, and right now it's being really strange! It will be about 154/101 and 30 seconds later be 132/83. That actually happened this morning. So, who knows! It would have to stay consistently, uncontrollably high for them to make the decision to deliver. BUT they can take me off food & water and put me on an IV because they think things might get worse. Then they could still not deliver me. That's what I'm worried about. I don't want any false alarms. I only want to have to go through the whole IV thing one time.
Enough about me.
My oldest daughter had to go to the Urgent Care last night for an ear infection. The Doctor she saw diagnosed her with Rhinitis (Hay Fever). Allergies, basically. She got some Claritin and an antibiotic. She's still allowed at school though. In fact it was the school nurse who called and told me that she was hurting and needed to be seen. My mother, who I spoke with about it later, said that my daughter told her that morning that she wasn't feeling good, but she didn't know there was anything wrong. That doesn't make sense, except for the fact that my mother ignores children. Anyways, my daughter is not contagious. I wonder if my mom has been smoking around her? I read that can bring on those sort of symptoms. Also mold and cockroaches which I'm sure she's exposed to at her biological father's girlfriend's place, they are such dirty people! Not to mention that her biological father also smokes, last I heard he was telling my daughter to keep it a secret from his girlfriend. When she told his girlfriend he was smoking he told her he wasn't going to take her to the park to play anymore because she ruined their secret sharing place. Creepy!
My littlest one seems to be doing fine and is forming a new & stronger bond with Daddy.
Daddy is overworked and rundown.
My mom, well she'll tell you everything that's wrong with her, all you have to do is call and listen to her complain. It's like a recorded message though, you get the same thing if you call back later too.
As for me, I have tons of complaints, but they're ever changing. There's always something new going on around here. Usually nothing good, but hey, it's another story to blog about.
My husband should be here soon to see me for a little while this afternoon. He has to get home to be with the kids tonight and his company gave everyone the day off.
In case you don't hear from me tomorrow, although you probably will:
Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Turkey Day
Celebrate Good Times!
Bring me some Turkey & something.
