Have you heard that Green Day song? It's been in my head all day today for some reason. Strange.
I know the last post was a mouthful and then some, but I have more to say. There was a lot that happened and a lot was said too. I need to document these things for my own memories. You can come along for the ride if you like :)
So my blood/sugar reading this morning was 125, it's supposed to be below 90 in the mornings. So that wasn't good.
The Dr came in and did the biophysical profile ultrasound this morning. LJ's face was facing away so we couldn't even see it. His little head is up on my right side near my ribs. He was moving his hand around by his head. So cute. She said he's probably somewhere between 3 1/2 lbs. and 4 lbs. by now, just going by what he was before and how much he should have grown by now, but no actual measurements were made. My fluid level were within normal range for this trimester, but they were a low normal. They were about "9" she said. Last trimester 9 would have been too low, but she said 9 is normal range now because the fluid levels naturally decrease the farther along you get. She said if they dropped to like a 4 or 5 that would be reason to deliver, but they are okay right now.
She said if all of my labs and urine come back okay and as long as we can lower my blood pressure, we'll keep on going. She also said that if I was 34 weeks right now she'd call it quits already and deliver. She got my lab results back while she was still here and they were fine. They were looking for low platelets which would indicate liver problems. I don't know what it means but she said mine were above 200 and that's great. I'll take her word for it. Sounds good to me, lol. My urine collection will be done tomorrow and they can probably get the results back Monday evening, Tuesday morning at the latest. Tuesday morning is probably when I'll get the news anyways though, because I just don't see them calling me Monday night to tell me anything. The Dr says that is my proteins in the urine collection come back above 4 grams she would call my original Dr from their practice who is on vacation right now and will be back on Thanksgiving. Her idea was that if they are even over 4 grams (last count was 2.4 grams) then he might want to go ahead and schedule the cesarean section for a time relatively close to immediately following his return because it would show that it's only going to get progressively worse even quicker and it would likely be the common opinion to just schedule it now. However, we aren't counting on the protein coming back that high. Last week it was 2.3 grams and 3-4 days later it had only gone up to 2.4 grams, so there's not a really high chance that it will have climbed to 4 grams by now. It has only been like 2-3 days since the last one. Preeclampsia is a totally unpredictable condition though, so things can go from 0 to crazy in minutes, but we can hope they don't. She said even 3 more days can make a huge difference for our baby right now. My outlook on the situation is that even if I delivered today, I'd still be here for Thanksgiving either way, so I might as well fight as hard as I can to make it until at least December!
Let's get some markers down:
Today is 31 weeks completed, beginning week 32.
Sunday, November 25th will be 32 weeks completed, beginning week 33.
Sunday, December 2nd will be (funny I inadvertently started typing "would be" there) 33 weeks completed, beginning week 34.
Sunday, December 9th will be 34 weeks completed, beginning week 35.
Seeing as how the Dr today said that if I was 34 weeks right now, that would be end the end of it, unless my condition actually improves, I think we can bank on baby coming by December 9th.
Personally I think a December birthday would be way cooler than a November birthday, but it's in the Lord's hands, not mine.
The ultrasound machine would not print any pictures. It's okay though, because I couldn't see anything worth printing a picture of anyways, he was just turned so much we couldn't make out any of the fun features.
She also reminded me some more about how mature my baby is. She said that because of my low fluid levels and hypertension (and something else, but I forget what) that my baby is just naturally forced to mature faster and that he will be born more mature than just about every other baby in the NICU here. :)
This morning my blood/sugar reading was 178 and I had to get 2 units of insulin injected. My Pepcid came late today (delivery issues) so I didn't get that until 2 PM it sucked! My after-lunch blood/sugar was 132, so no insulin. She put my on the "sliding-scale" along with my regular insulin injections, but I they only use the sliding-scale for the really high readings, like over 160 I think. So 132 wasn't high enough to have to shoot me, yeah! LOL
Oh yeah.. They said my reflexes are starting to become "brisk" and that's not good.
They didn't have too much else to say about that, so I don't know what that has to do with then.
That's about it for now. Consider yourself fully informed.
I miss my family and my puppy, Wiggles. My little wiggle-worm, my wiggle-waggles, my whiffle-whaffel.
