Things are gonna get easier.
Things are gonna get brighter.
Johnny is doing so great! He was up to 3 lbs. and 8 oz. yesterday. He's made it past his birth weight which was 3 lbs. and 7.1 oz. Today he weighs 3 lbs. 10 oz.!
His feedings are increasing! He was taking 13ccs (mls) every three hours, once by nipple-feeding. Now he's up to an authorized 18ccs every three hours and two out of four feedings by nipple (baby bottle). Yesterday someone got confused and he took three out of his four feedings by nipple (rather than tube)! He is doing great. So great!
Yesterday, Grandma Diana got to meet little Johnny for the first time. And his youngest sister got to meet him too! It was a very nice experience. We got a lot of smiles from our little man yesterday. He was just so beautiful and sweet! He loved hearing his sister's voice and he was trying very hard to focus his eyes on us as we spoke!
My hopes are high that he'll make it home for Christmas, and it just seems like such a real possibility. He's doing wonderful! I'm so proud of him!
He also did this amazing arch of his back when he heard me talking when we first got there. He pushed his head down and picked up his whole body. I think he was trying to roll over again or something. It was neat, he's so strong!
His right foot is where they were drawing his blood to do lab work on him when he was at the last hospital. They warned us that he may forever be antsy about his foot, that it's common for those babies to remain that way through life. Not my little man, he loves to be touched! He's over the foot stabbing things already. I guess he doesn't care to hold that grudge! Hooray for him!
His sister was so proud to meet him and really feel like a "Big Sister"! She got to wear a cute little mask and she was so excited to look like a Doctor and even more excited to get to keep her mask! She's carrying it with her everywhere. She's so sentimental! I wonder what this feels like for her. For it to finally seem like more of a reality than just a story. Wild!
