We forgot the camera on our visit tonight. Ir's too bad too, he cracked some smiles while we were there. He opened his eyes a few times briefly too. He's still doing great. He was transfered to a different hospital on Friday afternoon. His condition hasn't changed, they just were out of room and he since he was doing so well they thought he was safest to move. He did fine. I did find our the conversions for breast milk and feedings. He's taking about half an ounce of breast milk every three hours. That's a very small amount!
After he got settled at the other hospital, my husband and I went out to get lunch before going to see him, but we didn't get to finish because we started calculating time and traffic and thought we should get going up there quickly. Traffic was really bad getting there, and we had to leave in short time to get back to see our oldest daughter off for the weekend. The traffic was even worse on the way back and we almost missed her! Luckily we got tell her goodbye and let her know her baby brother was doing good. She was freaking out in the last few minutes though, she called us on our cells (mine doesn't show missed calls or anything, it just goes to voice-mail half the time). She was so freaked out that we wouldn't get there in time to hug her good-bye. So thank God for us making it with no seconds to spare, but with tight good-bye hugs!
So then, after we were home from rushing through traffic to get to see our oldest daughter and we cut our time short with our preemie baby to make it back to see her, my mother says to me "I sure wish you would have brought me some food, there's nothing to eat here!" We just spent over $100.00 on food on like Wednesday night (less than two days ago), and she did at least half the shopping! What!? It was then that I realized that my husband and I had brought home our lunches we bought earlier that day that we didn't get to finish. They had been sitting in the car for 3 or so hours. Apparently, my mother assumed that we were just being selfish and had stopped for food on the way home from the hospital. As if, while telling our oldest daughter on the phone that we're rushing through traffic as fast as we can to be able to see her before she leaves that we stopped for food and didn't get anything for anyone my mother. Right.
Thursday night, my youngest daughter started screaming from her bed. I thought she was asleep until I heard her screaming and crying. I ran in there panicked and she was panicking and talking about how she swallowed a little key. She was extremely panicked about her her throat, but she was talking. I kept talking to her and finally figured out that she was dreaming that she had swallowed a key and woke up during that dream. She hadn't actually swallowed a key. Thank goodness!
I have this strange thing that keeps happening to me tonight for the last few hours and it's making me terrified to lay down to try to sleep now! I keep choking on my own saliva every 20-30 minutes. My mouth is making way too saliva much for some reason and it's gagging me. If I don't specifically pay attention to it, I end up choking on it. And coughing is NO JOKE after abdominal surgery!! YOWZERS!
Oh yeah, Johnny's swelling has gone down and he looks really tiny now. I think he's lost all his water weight, and he should be gaining from here on out unless his feedings are too tiring for him. Have you ever tried to drink from a baby bottle? It's not even easy for adults.
