New News! Yeah!

It's true I have new and exciting news! Hooray!

First, on Friday Lil S got her first salon hair cut.

Big S got her first mani/pedi. I've taken her and Lil S for manicures lots of times, but this was the first time she got the full treatment, massages and all! What a spoiled little 7 year old, huh?! She had her fingernails and toenails painted a bright neon green and flowers painted on her big toes and every-other finger, then she had her finger nails coated with sparkles! How fun! I'm sorry I didn't get photos of that. Maybe when she gets home Sunday night if they're still in-tact I can snap some shots.

Lil S and I went to a celebration at our local Smith's (Kroger) grocery store Saturday afternoon. We bumped into Mrs. Swain who was Big S' Kindergarten teacher and is suspected to be Lil S' Kindergarten teacher in just a few weeks! So that was really neat we spent a few minutes chatting and the two of them getting a little acquainted. That might save me an orientation-meeting. Lil S won't be so shy because she's already familiar with her teacher! Yeah!

Saturday night Lil S took it upon herself to swim with her face completely under water. She can hold her breath just fine and I am totally impressed!

Other news: Uncle Danny is in town and we got to spend the evening with him and his wife, Lesa, and her daughter, Brittany, who is turning 18 tomorrow.

So, we're at Uncle Danny's (Who is my brother, for those wondering... He lives in Platte City, MO) hotel room at Lake Las Vegas at the pool when Lil S starts doing this. Johnny is with me. Everything else, including my camera, is up in the hotel room when Lil S starts swimming under water. She just turned five and we don't have a house with a pool where she can practice every day, so it's impressive to me. Richard, my niece's little boy, who just turned 7 also started swimming (not under water). He hasn't been around many pools either, less so than my children I think. He has usually expressed a little fear with swimming too, but he just started trying on his own and did really well!

Big S wasn't with us this weekend. It seems like every time something cool happens poor Big S misses out.

Lil S was my camera girl and she took really great pictures, I was surprised! I think I only had to delete about 30 of them, but she took about 100.

It was nice seeing my brother. I hadn't seen him since Mother's Day 2006, if I recall right.

John and I intended to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary on Saturday, but then my brother appeared unexpectedly and we had to see him. He helped us out a lot when we first moved to MO in 2002. We stayed with him in his house rent-free for the first two trimesters of my pregnancy with Lil S. We're very grateful for his generosity.

Our Wedding Anniversary was August 5th, incase anyone was wondering.
Thank you for the Anniversary card and kind thoughts, Gramma Patch.

Oh so anyhow, back to the swimming stuff, I made Lil S get out of the pool and come back up to the hotel room with me to get the camera and I got video of her swimming face-under-water and video of my Great-Nephew swimming. See below...
