Conference with Miss Paris

Tuesday was very busy for me. John and I went to a parent/student/teacher conference with Big S' 2nd Grade Teacher, Miss Paris. Miss Paris is her "new" teacher. At the beginning of the year she had Mrs. Romeo, but Miss Paris took over her class when she moved away shortly after the school year began. Anyways, Big S is doing very well in Math, Reading, and needs some work in Spelling and "Planning/Responsibilities". Her Teacher says she rushed through things and it causes her to forget or over-look things. I see a lot of this here at home too. Her Teacher even went so far as to say that if we don't continue to encourage her and help her be organized she might not be ready for 3rd Grade by the end of the school year! I was almost shocked by that because when she was in Kindergarten she had the opportunity to skip to 1st Grade because she was advancing so quickly. It's almost as if she had not learned anything her entire year of 1st Grade. We're very proud of her achievements and have some work to do with helping her organize her tasks!
